Currently, Alexander Khloponin is the member Siberian Record Interregional Association Board, a member of supreme Council of Russian political party “Yedinaya Rossia” (“United Russia”).

In 2004 the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexander Kloponin initiated joining of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Taimyr (Dolgan –Nenetsk) Autonomous Area and The Evenk District together. This initiative had got a great support on behalf of the local population and at the referendum held on April,17, 2005, a unanimous people’s decision – to live and work together in the united region, was adopted.

On June, 4, 2007, by the representation of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, the deputies of the united Krasnoyarsk territory’s Legislative Assembly confirmed Alexander Khloponin’s appointment as the Governor of territory.
