Labor potential

In the total region’s population size of the number of economically active population made 1 563,9 thousand people (54,1 % of the total number of Krai’s population, in Russia — about 52 % of the total number of country’s population). 91,7 % (1 434,5 thousand persons) of economically active population were involved in economy. According to the specificity of the region the largest share of people is employed in processing manufactures.

In 2007 the number of workers of large and mediumsized organizations in mining operations enterprises increased by 5,8 %, in fishing — by 6,4 %, in construction — by 14,9 %, in trade and repair of vehicles, motorcycles, household products and private use subjects — by 7,2 %, hotels and restaurants — by 2,4 %, financial activity — by 14,2 % (due to expansion of consumer crediting, the list and volume of insurance services), in maintenance of military safety, obligatory social security — by 4,7 %.

A number of unemployed people (in accordance with International Labour Organization) decreased from 153,3 thousand persons in 2006 to 127,8 thousand persons in 2007. Under the influence of economically active population, the total unemployment rate cut from 9,9 to 8,2 % thereafter.

Significant influence on the situation in the market (especially at the level of territories of the Krai) is rendered with realization of investment projects of social and economic development of the Krasnoyarsk Krai. Particularly reduction of registered unemployment in Kezhemsky territory is connected with renewal of construction of the Boguchany Hydroelectric Power Station.

Decrease in registered unemployment in the Krai is also the result of realization of actions of the Regional program of assistance of employment of the population.

In 2007 employment services were rendered to 356,9 thousand persons (23 % of economically active people). With the placement service assistance 92,7 thousand persons were employed (in 2006 this index was 87,8 thousand people). On the basis of the Russian Federation President Decree “About measures on rendering assistance to voluntary resettlement to the Russian Federation the compatriots living abroad“ in the region, Regional program “Rendering of assistance to voluntary resettlement to the Krasnoyarsk Krai the compatriots living abroad, for 2007—2009“ is developed.

In the framework of this Program resettlement of 2 283 participants of the program and 6 849 members of their families is planned in the territory of the Krasnoyarsk Krai.

The resettlement is planned to such cities as Kansk, Krasnoyarsk and regions: Balahtinsky, Birilussky, Boguchansky, Bolshemurtinsky, Yeniseisky, Kezhemsky, Kuraginsky, Mansky, Minusinsky, Pirovsky, Ribinsky, Suhobuzimsky, Shushensky.

The resettlement of 170 participants of the program and 229 members of their families (in general 399 people) was coordinated on 1 July 2008. 48 participants of the program and 51 members of their families arrived to the Krai. The total number of returned nationals is 99 persons.

Realization of the program make it possible to satisfy needs of investment projects in human resources on 5,5 %. The Krasnoyarsk Krai ranks the 12th in the rating of labor potential among the Russian regions (improvement on 4 itemes).
